Just a comment. I think that if your goat was attacked by a mountain lion he would be dead. He wouldn't have been able to get away. Because of the drought in California, last year lions were coming down out of the mountains into settled farmlands looking for food and water. One person lost a yearling colt and my friend lost some kid goats. They just disappeared without a trace. This was in the San Joaquin Valley where I used to live. That said, I now live in southwest Missouri. My husband narrowly missed a mountain lion that leaped in front of his car. He called fish and game about it but they didn't believe him because he didn't take a picture of it.
