Labels Wont Stick

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, but I wasn't sure where to put it.

I got some avery labels and made my own carton labels. The problem is that they don't stay stuck on the paper cartons. Has anyone figured out a way to make them stay on? I hate to think I wasted a day doing something that won't work.

Have you tried using a glue stick on them to help them stick? Sometimes do that if the labels are old or got too hot.
