I have a question for anyone who may be able to answer this...I have a black roo with silver lacing over his entire body, who genetically is probably silver birchen. I mated him to a black hen (E/E). Besides potentially getting all black chicks, and possibly some silver birchen, can I expect any of the offspring to have the lacing? Can I expect to see any other black combinations?

She's not an Easter Egger, she's a bantam cochin cross. The roo is a Modern Game x Silkie x EE cross. I know that doesn't say much for hidden genes, but I just wanted to clarify what I was dealing with.

She's dominant black then is what you are saying.

I would think you can expect to get some chicks with lacing.

Sorry about that, I see EE and easter egger pops into my mind.

Sorry if the pics are kind of big, but when I reduce them, I lose the details. I made a close-up of the lacing. The iridescent parts remind me of peacock eyes. If you really look at him, you can see all three breeds in him. I'm so glad I volunteered to take him!

Stacey,

What you have there is a silver birchen male the has very good birchen lacing. For some reason some birchen birds have lacing and others do not. I would say you will get black birds for sure and the birds would not be laced. There may be a few laced feathers on the breast but nothing like the male in the picture.
