Lack of feather development on chest and belly

This is the first time that i am raising cornish cross for food. They are about 7 weeks old right now and their chest and bellies dont seem to have the same development rate that the rest of their bodies do. Is this just because they are constantly laying down and eating all day?

They are in a tractor and get moved to fresh grass twice a day.

any info would help.

What’s probably happening is that they are growing so fast their feathers can’t keep up.

Chicks normally go through two molts before they get their adult plumage. They simply outgrow their feathers and have to replace them. But yours are so young it’s probably that the original feather growth can’t keep up with body growth.
