Lack of respect in young people today

It makes you wonder, too. When a crime gets committed in any neighborhood, rural or urban, if there are people who think back, and remember someone acting suspicious. I'll bet they wished they hadn't minded their own business.

Wow, those brats and their mothers all need their mouths washed out.

That trooper behaved badly. When you called you had no clue it was just a herd of unsupervised brats. You called in suspicious people, out where they shouldn't be, when they shouldn't be, violating at least the noise ordinance if not more. The trooper should have been willing to do a cruise by just in case. Had those brats robbed, torched or otherwise violated a home and the trooper did nothing he'd be in deep doo... you'd think the guy would at least try and cover his own tail... if not willing to DO HIS JOB and protect the citizens that pay his salary.

I'm with Boyd and others... firing a warning shot (since everyone's up already) would go a long way to easing my mind. Whoever was out there, innocent or predator, would know that you are awake, you are aware of them, and you are armed and totally willing to shoot them. That'd be plenty of info for ME to just mosey myself on down the road... quietly.

I think actually the dog woke NYchickies up, "2am today my dog wakes me barking seriously at something outside".

Yes, because people were outside being loud enough to wake the dogs up.
Where i live, if its after 10 pm at night and people are outside being loud... we can call the police and they come out and handle it. There a reason for this law... so disrespectful punks just cant go around waking up the neighborhood at 2am... when people have to get up for work the next day.
I have no problem with the kids being out at 2am..(if thats what their idiot parents allow..)... but you had darn well better be quiet around my house when my family is trying to sleep.
We're talking about 2AM here folks.. not 2 in the afternoon..

Personally, if my dog woke me up 2am on a Sunday morning, and I couldn't hear voices until I went downstairs, I probably would just go back to sleep. That's all I'm saying, and I'm not trying to start any fights here. I'm not sure the noise ordinance would apply to one's own dog waking them up. Someone could've easily called the police on the barking dog too..

There are at least 2 young adults up the road from me that have actual criminal records for theft and vandalism. I work too hard for my money to have some punk steal from me. One good reason for having a big dog. And, I find it sad that since the trooper wasn't going to show a bit of concern, that I esentially could have put myself in danger by investigating.

Got news for ya, 80% of the population DOES work on Sunday morning. We are no longer a 5 day a week 9-5 society. I have not had a Sunday off in about 15 years.

Being a resident of a very rural area, I'll throw in my 2 cents here.

We have big dogs for a reason. We live out in the middle of nowhere where if you do actually dial 9-1-1, and I have, it takes a State Police officer 45 minutes to get to your house. There is no local police force.

My dogs don't bark at everything. They bark when there is something to bark at. If my dogs wake me up at 2 AM, you better believe I'm going out there to see what's up, only difference is I go armed with a .12 gauge and a spot light.

We no longer have troubles with the local hoodlums down the road, for about the same reason Boyd no longer has trouble. You come on my property, or in the vicinity of my property, loud enough to get my dogs frazzled at 2 AM, you're going to get hollered at and I'm gonna plug a couple shells into the ground to let you know I'm not dealing with your stupidity.

We've had people try to break in. I had someone come up on the porch, and try to get in, in spite of the dogs' presence, and the 9-1-1 call got me a State Trooper in FORTY FIVE MINUTES. 45 minutes to respond to an unknown intruder attempting to enter a house containing a woman and two children. We made sure a precedence is set after that. Folks leave us alone these days, and that's the way we want it.

JMHO-
Em

I think this would be an exaggeration. The United States Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that about 30% of people work on weekends. They, of course, do not distinguish between Sunday and Saturday on their site. But I think it would be fair to assume that most people who work on the weekends are working primarily on Saturdays. So probably less than 30% work on Sundays.

"Got news for ya"? I am truly sorry if you were personally offended by me expressing my opinion here. It was not my intent.

Sometimes the way you phrase a request or complaint it gets more attention than using different words.

exactly!!!! I only had 1 call happen like what the OP did and I told the dispatcher Ok, I'll call you back after I shoot them. The cops were at the end of my driveway faster than you could shake a stick!
