one of the cochin eggs we got from a local breeder on the 14th?..and set on the 15th, has INTERNALLY pipped!!!!..wierd, I FRESHLY layed, 12 day old embryo is pipping, hmmmmm.

this lady who lives in madison, has ALOT of birds, maybe several hundred, alone in her garage, she had over 100 different sized chicks, who were in tiny little CARDBOARD brooders, and scared xxxx

she overprices, and I was not impressed, one by her so called-great,wonderful hatch rates(out of 18 eggs we bought from her last time only 6? hatched) of wich all but THREE have fallen ill and died, we hatched, 1 blue cochin,1 cochin mix(NOT a pure cochin, she lets her cochins and Orps run together),1 buff Orp,1 cuckoo maran,1 EE, and some funky little yellow thing with an orange head.

the yellow thing, blue cochin, and EE have all died.for no reason what so ever.

and I was not impressed with her set up, she spends NO time with her birds at all, and is just in it for the money.

her birds didn't look that great, our MUTTS were prettier than some of hers.

and when we went this other week, she not only MISLABELED the eggs she gave us, but the ROOSTER as well, the rooster she said was a black AMERICAUNA, was actually an ugly arsed black Arucauna, a buttless one!, the eggs we got are pale brown, and light green, and supposed to be Americauna eggs.

ANYWAYS!
so I wanted more cochin eggs, so I got 6, 3 of those are tiny arsed things, that are probly duds, the other three are big looking eggs, and SUPPOSED to be fresh."layed that morning" eggs.

then someone tell me why I've got a little cochin head poking theough the aircell in my bator at 12 days old?????

I knew it wasn't "fresh" because two cochin eggs(one in the bator and one under a hen looked to be the same stage when I candled a few days after setting them.

I don't think thats right, to NOT tell someone something just to make money, had she said "two of these were under a hen, I'm not sure for how long, so they may hatch sooner" i'd have been ok with it, but she said nothing, AND I'd have gotten them in the bator sooner instead of letting them sit for a day or whatever.

we won't be getting any eggs from her again.

and and did I mention that she has URI's all over her flock and is doing NOTHING to treat them.

nor is she treating her sick jersey giant rooster who supposedly ate rat poison but is still alive.

like I said, I wasn't impressed.

That is sad. But I wonder...why did you get eggs from her after seeing her birds, their living conditions and their condition?

That to me seems like asking for trouble. I am sorry you had the issues however.

Just a dumb question (and I am NOT trying to start something, I'm just curious). If you had such bad results in the past, why deal with her again? Did she credit you those new eggs? I hope so. Those poor birds - it's a chicken mill. Why are people so $%#&^@ greedy? I wish you luck with the babies you hatch now. I hope they are healthy and happy and give you years of pleasure.
Best wishes to you!
:-)

I have the same sentiments as the others. If you had a bad experience with her before, why did you go back?? Especially if you know her birds are sick? Why would you even want eggs or birds from that person??

Here is another thought on it......
1/2 the job was done for you (sortove)
and.......I hope she isn't selling "fresh" eggs for eating

Yet you went back for MORE?! As the others have said why would you do that? If I saw several hundred birds in a person's garage I wouldn't have bought the first 18 & if I had & only 1/2 hatched & 1/2 of that died I would NOT go back for more.

I just don't know what you would have expected on a return trip to this person.
