Hello! I was wondering if I should be worried about my silver laced polish chick, Ellie... She has been with me 2 weeks, she seems to sleep more than the rest, she still regularly eats, sleeps, drinks, and plays on the perches, but she just seems to be less energetic than the rest... Just personality? She has a diet of chick boost in her water, non medicated chick starter, and the occasional mealworm.

I believe she is a white Chantaler! They are dual purpose, and are good layers, but also good for meat! That explains the double Breast... Congrats!

If she's still eating normally, and acting normally while she's awake, I wouldn't worry too much. Just keep an eye on her to see if she's getting more lethargic.

As stated above, just make sure she's eating and drinking. I've had some chicks that sleep more than the rest and some that don't sleep at all. The chicks I have right now are awake from sun up to sun down because they're outside and everything so so interesting to them. When I had chicks inside, they slept more maybe because they just had a brooder and no bugs or dirt like outside.

If she becomes more lethargic then I would start worrying. She might just have a laid back personality. I have one chicken that's so laid back it makes her the odd one of the group, but she is the funniest one to watch.

I have an EE “Dorthy” that is like that. She eats, sleeps, roost and even an occasional play but usually alone and sleeping. She seems very healthy and absolutely normal when she’s up and about though.
