Hmm intresting. So what do they call this color of lakenvelder then? Here are some pics I found online. They are pretty similar actually. What do you think, @natrm83 ? View attachment 2063682View attachment 2063683View attachment 2063684View attachment 2063685View attachment 2063686

I lost 1 of the 2 a few days ago, just as feathers were starting. It got caught under feeder and didn't realize it until it was too late sadly. But the other one is getting a decent amount of feathers now, and I think it might be looking like a speckled sussex. So my guess is that the hatchery sent a different breed in place of the lakenvelders and didn't notify store. As they have done a few times before. But I guess when it starts laying, if the eggs are white, we'll have more research to figure out on the color. Haha
Thanks for coming back to update, so sorry you lost one. I did that same thing with a keet once. That's definitely not a Speckled Sussex, I think it might be a Dark Cornish. What hatchery are they from again?

...chicks from Hoover hatchery...
I think it might be a Dark Cornish.
Oh, missed that thanks. Definitely a rose or pea combAnswer was hidden in post #1:
Back in post 14, OP put close-up photos of both chicks, showing the combs fairly clearly. They look like single combs to me--but a Dark Cornish should have a pea comb. Good point about the color pattern, though.
Maybe a Barnevelder?

Can you post a comb pic, @natrm83 ?
