(They can still go around 55 miles an hour in normal flight and snowy owls can go about the same speed, but ah well)
Nero shot high into the sky, almost 600 feet into the air. Using his great sight he could see a very faint dot flying away. He continued flying at his normal speed, higher into the air slowly to prepare for his attack.

(So he's niether gaining, nor losing. They'd be traveling around the same speed.)

Manex shot around the side of one of the mountains, disappearing completely from view.

Cairo didn't care if she was running. He trusted his army to catch them.

The trees were a blur on either side of her as the miles ticked by.

Nero sped after them to his maximum speed around 60 miles an hour. He soon gained a small sight of them once again. He was now about 1,200 feet into the air. He still needed to gain some more altitude, but he was close to his target height.

Kate's did aswell, but she kept going as fast as she could with her injuries.

While FanDance was gone, Valhalla slipped, unnoticed into the trees. His wounds were still there, but his power had begun to heal them faster then an average wolf could heal.

Nero, losing sight, dove. He gained around 100 miles an hour quickly, but couldn't find them. But FanDance, only about 3 miles away, raced as fast as she could to 45 miles an hour, doing her best not to lose them.
