In the morning, the rabbits fixed up some of her wounds and fed her. Chittering in the usual language. Kate thanked them and set off again. Once she reached the ice again, she looked at the sun, trying to get her berings. She remembered the stars from the night before and took an estimate from the suns position. From there, she had a pretty good idea of where to go. She shook out her coat and ran again, setting a brisk pace across the ice.

Evander lashed out with his front paw, leaving three deep gashes across Cairo's face. "Vlad is not my leader. Nor are you"

Maria grabbed Cairo from above and lifted him in the air before dropping him from about 50ft. She swooped down and grabbed Evander who was still dazed and took off, rising much quicker now that she didn't have the extra weight of Vlad. Soon, she was clearing the tree-tops.

FanDance caught him on her back before anything serious could be done.

A few hours later, the tall, dark trees of the Black Forest could be seen looming up in front of her. She increased her pace slightly and reached them around noon when the sun was highest in the sky. Once among the trees, the sunlight was scarce and the air was slightly damp. Kate had been here once before, years ago, and it didn't look much different then it had then.

Little did she know she was not alone in the forest

Kate stopped once she was deep enough in the forest that someone looking in from the outside wouldn't see her. She looked around slowly, on the hunt for something to eat.
