Maxine didn't reply, she didn't trust her voice. She was worried about Kate, as she always was, but she wouldn't show it in front of Cairo.

Thistles flared her nostrils as she sniffed the air. Her tail twitched back and forth, slapping the ground.

By now Pacu was sleeping in a tree.

Thistles found a nice, mossy spot a few meters away and curled up, though her worries were still alive and well. She continued staring at the sky, her nostrils flaring at the smell of the cold, dry arctic air.
