Jack's trembling paws gave out and he slumped to his side on the floor of the cave. He did not reply, or move again.

She began to rise slowly advancing towards him

Jack didn't move, his breathing was fast and shallow. His eyes were open, and focused on her, but they didn't seem afraid.

She continued advancing. "I should have done this the moment I met you"

"Just think what we would have missed out on..." He rasped.

"Spare me your goodbye speech Jack" She said raising her right paw preparing to strike

He exhaled slowly and didn't reply.

She smashed her paw towards his throat

Jack moved, surprisingly fast for someone so weak, and her claw missed the artery. Blood gurgled around his throat and he coughed, splattering her paws with blood.

"Why don't I put you out of your misery" She said preparing to strike once more

With a great amount of effort, and obvious pain, Jack hauled himself to his paws in front of her. He looked upwards slightly to look her in the eye and said "Because I am not miserable. I'm enjoying myself immensely."
