lamb overdosed on ivermectin

so he could make a full recovery, will his brain be affected? My husband has a vet that works for him so I guess we could get the iv if we need it. Is there anything I can use to tube feed? We only have tubes for puppies and they are too small.

Did you ask the vet about charcoal to flush the toxicins in his system? I know you do that in case of posion intake...
Poor little thing I sure hope he makes it.

Maybe electroties (sp?) would be good too.

the med was put on its back and absorbed through the skin.

Do I give him 2 16 oz bottles or 4 8oz bottles.

Look on this web site it might have the answers you need.
Cant say what I would like to say as it would be taken to harshly, but if they didnt know how to raise it they should have not go it till they read up and asked how to care for it.
Blessings to your friends little lamb, and blessings to you for trying to help it!

just got off the phone with my neighbor, she is at work and I am "lamb sitting". The people that owned it are still without power from our ice storm a month ago and they are staying somewhere else. They noticed that the mom quit taking care of the lamb so they thought it might be wormy and gave it some ivermectin. We think the baby was just weak from not eating. No one knows how long he was without food. Sure hope he makes it.

I did a bit of googling around and there were accounts of pet squirrels and guinea pigs OD'd on Ivermectin and they generally recovered (even if they were comatose for a while). Some had seizures, and needed short term anti-seizure meds.

I almost promise it's not ivermec poisoning (you'd have to dump like half the bottle on him)...more likely entero or simply starvation.

I would pump him full of C/D antitoxin, nutridrench...B complex. Get him warm in a bath and tube feed the milk.

Hope he pulls through.

I think if it were me I would feed 4 8 oz bottles throughout the day, since he is not active, you don't want to overfill his tummy
