Lame Chicken Exam - Necropsy Pictures Added

Yes, it will be interesting if you can. Has your friend had her from a chick and was she vaccinated for Marek's and does he remember her being lame when she was younger. Any recent changes that may have stressed her to trigger an episode?

I think he bought her at a poultry show last year, and since most breeder don't vaccinate, I doubt she was vaccinated. As for stress, I'll ask him.

At this time of year, it may be adolescent males causing the stress rather than a physical change in routine or environment. (Not sure if your friend has young roosters in his flock, but something to consider). I've seen that trigger secondary attacks in birds that had previously recovered from their first attack of Marek's.

Of course the tumours may be unrelated to Marek's but that is where my money is. Does your friend have other young birds that may be affected?

If it is Marek's, it wouldn't actually make you sick from what I have read, but I wouldn't want to risk it.
