Lame or poorly? Young Welsh harlequin female duck

Many ducks in the wild do not survive, actually.

Domestics have been bred, often, for laying, not hardiness.

Ah that makes sense. Can I ask one more question. Is it normal for her to lay 2 soft eggs? Will all this regulate when she gets a bit older? Sorry for all the questions!!

It is within the range of startup whoops that I have seen. Her body is learning how to do this and needs to work the kinks out. Some ducks have congenital problems and egg laying can be a long term challenge. It is too early to know, I think.

Hi all - just to let you know, Rebeccah seems fine today. I don't think she's laid. There was only one egg this morning and I'm guessing that was from Jemima. Although I think Rebeccah laid the 2 soft shell eggs yesterday so may not get one from her today. Will keep up with the calcium and fingers crossed she'll be ok. Hoping this difficulty with laying won't be ongoing! Thanks all xx

I hope so, too!

Hello.
Really need advise on my WH duckling.
I had two, but just like @hwyaden ty I came home and found my duckling dead.
This was very strange being that he was full of energy that morning.
The second duckling has always seemed to be stronger and very much so energetic.
As of about 7pm, I've noticed he is not himself.
He can't stand without fumbling, when he drinks water he spits it out. He doesn't want to be touched, which is way out of his character.
I have never had a duck before and want to know what I am doing wrong.

P.s: does live in an apartment.
He is eating chick feed that was given to me by his breeder.
