Have a 3 yr old lavender roo. Noticed him laying down today. He does not look well. I tried to stand him up and noticed him limping. He has a nasty looking flattened toe and another sore on a toe I believe he has an infection of some sort in the leg. I injected 1/4 cc of penicillin for antibiotic. I will attach a pic of the foot toe. Any advice or recommendations to treat would be appreciated. Kids and I want to save him.

Sorry about your rooster. Is he eating and drinking? Do you know how he cut his feet? You may want to soak his feet in warm Epson salts water for 20 minutes a day. I would coat his feet in Vetericyn, Betadine or plain Triple Antibiotic Ointment. For a few days, I would use a clean old towel or puppy pads for bedding. A chicken sling is something you might consider if he will tolerate it, to get him upright, and infront of food and water.

Im not sure how or if he cut his toe. His toe has been messed up for a while but he got around fine on it. Im hoping the penecillin helps the infection but I don't know if it will solve the problem. I almost wonder if the tie needs to be removed, it might save him. The toe almost looks flat, it's definitely deformed. Anyone else run into a toe like that?? Im not sure if this would be bumblefoot or not.

It probably is a deformity, since those can be common in chickens. It doesn’t look so bad that it needs amputation in the pics. I would just keep it clean, soak it, and apply some antiseptic. The penicillin may help. It looks cut, and bumblefoot can atart with tiny cuts that cause a staph infection in the foot pads. You may want to look for sharp rocks or things that can cut feet. I have sharp gravels that come to the surface in the soil in my ripun, and I have to remove those often.
