My 9 month old buff top suddenly started keeping leg up as tho injured about 5 weeks ago. Vet couldn't find anything broken and prescribed pain relief and rest. He has improved and is walking with a limp now, however his gait seems a bit strange, as tho the lame leg is set back from the other making walking difficult. Think he got too amorous with his ladies. Is there anything that can be done?

I wonder if it's a sprain, then. Just rest. If he seems in lots of pain, you might put him in a crate (out with the flock) to limit his movement and keep him from getting too amorous again.

Did the vet xray the leg and hip? Roosters can be prone to injuries with all of their energy and activity. Sometimes leg bone deformities can become more noticeable with age. Have his legs and feet always appeared straight ahead and together? Forced rest inside a pen or large wire dog crate might help. Preventing him from running, jumping, or mating would be helpful. The vet could prescribe an anti-inflammation drug called meloxicam for pain. Some chickens never recover from injuries. My one hen who limped, did it for 3 years, and eventually, she just laid around with her flock in the yard and died. But she always wanted to be with them. I suspected a spiral leg fracture. Hopefully he will get better soon.

He is in his own small coop and run in same space as hens. I thought sprain but now it's getting better it seems put 0f alignment with the other. Vets said they can aneathsatize and x-ray but the cost is enormous and it's already cost a lot, just to be told they can't see anything broke, which I told them.
Hopefully he will repair.

Vet just gave metacam, cost £80. Said can aneathsatize and x-ray but so expensive. His limp is getting better but the leg seems set back compared with other, so it is never placed forward of the other, if that makes sence.
I'm wandering, maybe spiral fracture then or dislocated shoulder? But the leg bends and stretches. Hopefully he will heal, if not he may have to live with it, he doesn't seem bothered.

Wow, that seems so expensive. It is a prescription drug here, and prices are high online, but nowhere that expensive. If you ever can get some pictures of his legs from the front or back it might help, but if the vet cannot figure it out, I’m not sure that anyone here could do better.
