Lame Sebbie can't walk help

Hi thanks very much for your post RURU, your sebastopols are beautiful. I'm going to either sell or separate the ganders in the mating season, I have heard they fight - last year I only had one gander and he was very brutal ripping the females feathers out so I can quite imagine they males will be worse. It's even more worrying that Sebastian is twice the size of the other male he's so much bigger than in the pic now (so could cause quite a bit of damage) I bought the curly goose from cheshire poultry and told them I already had a smooth gander but they said would only sell the birds as a pair so had to buy the smooth gander aswell. Thanks for the info will definately separate them :)))

Wow just been looking at your Sebs they are absolutely stunning. Wonder if you can give me a bit of advice, I have read that Sebastopols aren't great layers or parents? How would you say they compare to the other breeds? I have Embden which proved to be excellent layer last year and toulouse which I read are also good layers.

Sebastopol's lay eggs but maybe not as many as other breeds do. The females can lay as many as 30 eggs in a season. But you have to keep taking them away from them to keep laying. Because they will lay a clutch and stop laying...
I am not experienced with other breeds just Sebastopol's...
The fertility can go both ways. Some gander's are more fertile than other's. Plus all eggs do not get fertilized. Sebastopol's tend to lose their goslings at the end of the incubation. They have to lose just the right amount of moisture at the end in order to be strong enough to fully hatch.

Thank you very much I try hard to only keep the better quality Sebastopol's.... I am trying to breed for a well balanced goose that is oval in body type, not too long of neck, really good quality of feathering with lots of fluff and am now working on the feathering going up the neck along with the furrowing....
