(Disclaimer: I had no idea where to post this, so I'll start here, then maybe try the disease/injuries section)

So when my meaties were about 8 weeks old one lost the use of his legs. Nothing unusual about that, happens sometimes when they get to a certain age/weight. After the bird went 'stationary' I made sure it was parked near the feeder/waterer so it could make it till process in a couple of days. It started pooping this really weird pastel green/white poo, not represented on this chart: http://www.chat.allotment.org.uk/index.php?topic=17568.0

First of all, have others seen this weird poop? Secondly do you know what it means? Liver failure is my only guess?

Here's why I ask: The day before yesterday I had a 4 week old duckling go lame. She's been in a 'hospital' enclosure with 'healing' food (yogurt, cooked eggs, non-medicated chick starter) and I've noticed she is pooping the pastel green/white poo.

Two different species, two different lifestyles/diets, different ages... same lameness, same poo.

What is going on?

At the time birds get to 8 weeks they should have already been processed. Also the colors that you are showing could be the system shutting down. I was told that you should process them at 6 weeks, that is what they are bred for. (not intending on sounding mean)

From experience, when you process this bird, make sure liver color is correct and not purple/black or has fluid gush out of body cavity. I had one recently that seemed to have stopped growing, processed her and found out from someone here and Pres of poultry club said that is "puss".

Ewie, gross, but it was not stinky (nothing worse then the innards of a meat bird).

Good luck and I do not intend on sounding mean.

Thanks spook, no worries, you dont sound mean

I'm really worried about my duckling and it surprised me when I saw pastel green/white poo in her "hospital" pen, it was the same poo that the downed meatie had. Of course she is my favorite duckling and if I knew what caused the green/white poo then maybe I could treat the duckling more effectively...

Has anyone seen this pastel green/white poo? Any ideas what it means??
