Well, if you include your arm length and a reacher, that's somewhere around 5-6 feet off the total. Might be worth a try.

I have a very large Australorp who is my longest-lived free-ranger so far. She is five years old and not fast by any stretch of the imagination so I am always surprised that she has managed to thrive despite the bobcat, hawks and a bout of illness that took four other chickens. That was just a guess on my part - I am notoriusly bad at estimating things that are measurements - distance, height, weight, temperature, that sort of thing.
