Langshan Thread!!!

So, what does that mean?  I have 3 blue chicks (1 cockerel & 2 pullets) that also have lots of feathers like the Splash.  All of the chicks from my field Langshans feather out fast unlike my black trio from Sherry (James Smith line).  These two chicks were part of the same hatch but different breeding lines.

Not sure. How do your other line compare final size wise to the birds you got from Sherry? If size is compared but they feather out faster that's interesting and I have no idea what it means. They might just be faster maturing too. All the lines I've ever had have been slower like the black you have there.

The birds from Sherry are bigger than the birds in my other lines. I haven't weighed them all to compare weights but I know that Shang is my biggest cock and his two girls I think are my biggest. Now that I have a trio from Dirt Farmer, I need to take my scale to the farm and weigh them. What is the easiest way to do that?

Matt, are yearly dues for the Langshan Club $15? For some reason I thought that they were $20 and I want to make sure that I send in the right amount.

Unless I missed a memo they are still $15 annual. It was lifetime that went up to $200. I'm double checking so pester me if I don't get back in 24 hours. Form should be on the website.

The form says $15. I just wanted to make sure! I don't want my membership to be turned down!

If you have a killing cone and a hanging scale, this is the best weigh.

Perfect! I was trying to figure out how to get my birds to stay in a container on my shipping scale. We have a killing cone so just need to get the scale. Maybe my farm friends have one. They have all kinds of things in their workshop and have been raising all kinds of animals for years.

Edited to add, I loved your set up Dirt Farmer! You have beautiful birds, beautiful coops, and a beautiful property!
