Langshan Thread!!!

I absolutely think you should hatch from them! She will be exactly what he needs!
Oh, yeah!!!! I am so excited to see what their offspring will look like! I set out wanting to breed blue and splash and I've fallen in love with the white and black. If I can persuade my farm friend, we may try breeding all 4 colors!

I really enjoyed looking at those photos, Petrock, thanks for sharing them. I cannot get over how similar they are to the Croad Langshan, and if I was younger and at a better health, breeding blues (and splashes) would definetly be my thing. The trickyest bit with breeding Blues will be having the right combination of colored animals to keep on developing them. That I find so easy with the whites. You just have to find two animals that look suited to each other, and the result is almost always good, and even the animals that are a bit wrong in shape seems to be able to breed nice chickens. I had a cockerell that was all wring in shape, but he represented a strong outcross, so I used him, and all of his offspring turned out nicer than himself, so the genes were there. In this book: http://openlibrary.org/works/OL16513859W/The_Asiatics the white Langshan is described as "The Regal White Langshans" by one of the contributors. There is a good reason for that?

Hi rodriguezpoultry, seeing as your know your stuff with Langshans do you reckon you could critic my langshans. I don't plan on breeding them they are just what you would call retirees at my place from a breeder, I am just interested to know.
You do not have to do this if you have better things to do.lol.

These pics are of about 2-3 months ago so I will get some more tomorrow if you want.

Thank you, thorleif! And thank you for posting a link to that book on the Asiatic breeds. I am enjoying reading it! Now that I actually have Langshans close to breeding age, it makes so much more sense to me. I love your whites! Sure wish that it wasn't so hard to import into the US!

What a nice picture to see! Unfortunately, the whites over here are far from "Regal." There are far too few whites being bred for quality. There simply need to be more breeders out there for them!

Cluckcluckluke, are you from the US or from another country? Those birds have a different body type from the birds I strive to breed for.
