I candled today and saw an egg with a hair line crack in it. It is still developing. What should I do?

Wow, babymakes6, 25-30% humidity? Really??? I have never heard of it so low. The BYC page says 50% humidity for days 1-18. I have heard as high as 60% and yours is the lowest!

And, justuschicks, I try to keep in mind how nature does this! Chickens hatch their eggs all over the world, in high and low humidity, and I swear, that is what keeps me sane!!! I am going to try this hatch however my incubator can keep things consistent. I think that is what is most important! I have always believed consistency is key, in raising children, training dogs, and it must work with hatching chickens! It's always worked for me!

Wish me luck! they are going in tonight! I'll keep you posted!

Well, I never posted a pic of my incubator and eggs so here we go! I have an old re-purposed Omaha Steak Box. I am heating it with a 40watt light bulb, and have a water heater thermostat to control the temps. The only thing I bought was the thermostat.

Here is a pic of today's first hatched, it is a big chick! I was surprised! Maybe it is just because the last batch was all bantams.

If you look to the right, you can see the double stacked Ameraucana Eggs. I candled them for the first time a couple of days ago, and I think19 out of 25 are good.

And last but not least my broody, Buttercup, I took this of her a couple of days ago. I will try to get a pic in the next couple of days with the chicks.

I just took water out to adjust the humidity, according to the advice I've been getting and my humidity went up and my temp went DOWN! I was what I thought was perfect at 100 degrees and 50% humidity and now I am at 90 degrees with 60% humidity! I can't catch a break here!!! I am starting to lose my mind.......
