Hi everyone, My chicken has developed a large bump on her wing. It started back in the winter when they were confined to the coop/run but since about March, they’ve been free range all day every day. My other chickens do tend to bully her a bit so I thought maybe it started when they were confined to the coop but now since they have a huge yard to roam in, I thought it would get smaller/ go away. Instead it seems to be getting larger and today there is blood on her wing. Does this look like feather pecking from bullying, or something I should have checked out by a professional? Any advice would help!! Thanks!

Do you have a rooster?
Ever see the other hens mount her?

To me it looks like feather picking or could be from mating.
I see what looks like intact feather shafts in the skin and broken feathers - with the shafts intact in the skin, she won't replace those until she molts.
The blood could be from picking or a broken feather that was bleeding.

You can try NuStock cream on the bare area. Blu Kote or Pine Tar are couple of other products that people recommend.

Is the bump actually raised or does it look like they just lost some feathers? I agree with @Wyorp Rock it looks like the little one had its feathers picked out by a roo or maybe she got caught on something.

That’s good to know, I’ll try applying that. No, we don’t have a rooster, but I’ve caught it maybe 2 or 3 times in the past where it seems like another hen tries to get on top her. It is a raised bump though, maybe the cream will help?

It is raised, and maybe a bit larger than the size of a quarter. We also don’t have a rooster but I’ve caught one of the hens trying to get on top her before. I’m thinking it could be a bump/wound the hens noticed and started picking at?

Could be the hens are noticing it more since it's reddish.
I would feel of that - it may be raised like a wound and/or inflamed - it's the top of the wing which so, hard to tell from photos whether or not it's swollen.
Try one of the products mentioned and see if that helps.
