Hi I'm new to Backyard Chickens and new to having pet chickens. One of my girls has a large bump or growth under one of her wings. Can anyone tell me what it is? I have felt under her wing and it feels normal. Almost like she grew very fast just on one side of her body. Should I Not be eating her eggs.

Does it feel like air could be trapped under the skin, such as when there is a leaking air sac? Or it is solid? Is the spine straight or crooked? It looks a little like your chicken might have a wry tail, which is a tail that is to one side from a muscle spasm. That might make it appear to be a lump or deformity.

The bump is solid and she walks funny. It been this way since she has grown to full size. I'm glad it's not something worse. My daughter loves this girl. Thank you for the comment on wry tail.

There is a condition called roach back or scoliosis, which is a spinal deformity. There are a couple of threads about this with pictures, if you do a search at the top of this page in the search box.
