My Cuckoo Maran hen is 6 months old, has been laying for about a month now. She lays dark brown eggs. Yesterday the egg was tiny! Like a large grape! Today it was normal again.
Could this be an egg from our Mille Fleur who hasn't started laying yet? Or do hens do this occasionally? Our other hens (RIRs and JG) have been laying increasingly larger sized eggs each day, nothing has gotten smaller in size. Anyone had this happen to them??

thanks!

It could of been a fart or fairy egg. They usually either don't have a yolk or have just a bit of yolk. It's pretty normal to find one here and there when the pullets are getting their systems in order. Nothing to worry about, just a minor glitch in the system.

And no picture... shame on you

These are fart eggs. Every once in awhile my girls will lay one too.
