Large Egg

Well, that IS a big bummer. I absolutely love laced feathers - it's so beautiful. How curious that she's always had egg oddities.

Most egg oddities are just temporary glitches. But now and then you get one with a permanent issue.

It doesn't affect her health so I just eat the eggs and don't incubate them. :)

Ah yes! The big fall cull, eh?! I wish you the best of luck!!

It's great that you're on the up and up about the ones you're selling - I know many out there are quite deceptive!

I hate coming on here and having to break the news to people that they didn't get what they thought they were buying. :(

We had an enormous egg the other day from one of our 4 mature hens, see picture. Grandson opened it for breakfast and it contained 2 big yolks and one little one. We get double yolks fairly often. Picture is of 2 normal sized eggs and our giant between them :)

I have a couple big eggs too! Maybe there's something in the water these days!
What's up with these MEGA EGGS? I've only been raising chickens since late March, 2022. Here I have two giant eggs & three other eggs for comparison!! I'm assuming the big honkers come from a 2-year old Red Sex Link named Cholula, my friend gave me. my other chickens are 5-7 months old. I do have a Silver Laced Wyandotte who is unusually large for her age... 6 months or just large for a chicken. Why does his happen?

How long have they been laying? It’ll take them a couple months to start ovulating more regularly and work out any kinks they may have. Until then, you may get some unusual eggs.
