Hi.. Please help! I have two chickens because we lost one this week :/ but every other day or every three days we have a huge egg in the coop, it almost fills my hand, any one know if it could be my bluebell or black Rock that is laying these....

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I'm sorry for the loss of your bird. It is almost certainly your Black Rock which is laying the huge eggs. Black Rock is one of several labels (other labels include Black Star, Bovans Nera, and Rock Red) under which some hatcheries market their Black Sex Links which are produced by crossing RIR roosters X Barred Rock hens. Black Sex Links are egg laying machines, outlaying either parent breed. It's one of the interesting quirks of hybridization. Not only do Black Sex Link hens consistently churn out more than 300 eggs per hen per year, but they typically lay very large eggs. Out of the dozens of breeds and hybrids that I have raised over the past 50 years, my Black Sex Links have not only been my best layers but they have laid my largest eggs with double yolks not being uncommon. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your birds.

Thank you! I thought it was her but when I went up to the coop yesterday afternoon after I'd removed the large egg she was sitting in the box.... And yes it was a double Yolker!

Thank you! Yes unfortunately she was a very pretty bird but only lasted 7 weeks with us:(

Welcome to BYC, glad to have you join us.

So sorry about your loss.

Those jumbo eggs are surprising, I had a BO that started laying eggs as large as you described, could not fit them in an egg carton :)

No I couldn't fit mine in the egg box either our first one was a double yolker and we've had two more since but not cracked them yet

My first was a double yolker, then the rest were just single yolks. The shells were more delicate than smaller eggs and the yolk membranes were too delicate to separate yolks from whites. Guess the same amount of calcium for a XL egg had to cover those Jumbos and same issue for the larger yolks.

Wonder if your others will all be double yolkers?
