Thanks Blue. Anyone out there who has done this successfully?

I thought I would post some new pics of my babies. They're a little over 6 months old now. I keep wondering if they'll ever lay an egg for me. Guess I still have a while to wait though...

I like his looks, too, but I'm not sure he'll be one of my keepers. I plan on keeping the light buff one just because I like him the best

. Of the 3 lemon blue-ish ones, I'm still trying to decide which I think would be the best choice; I have a darker blue one that I like, but has has a lot more of the buff coloring than the other 2. I also have one that looks very similar to the one in the picture, but he doesn't have solid blue foot feathers, but a buff/blue combo. The one in the pic is a little ornery; I've had to bop him on the head several times for biting.

I see you're in Central VA! I wonder how far away you are from me. Don't suppose you're looking for a new roo, howfunkyisyourchicken?

Ooh, I love your black cochins! The buff and splash are nice, too! I have a couple black pullets; I hope they turn out as nice as yours.

Your hen looks similar in color to the 3 closest birds I have to lemon blue; all 3 are cockerels. I have 5 cockerels, but the other 2 are more buff (1 light and 1 dark) with blue accents. None of my hens look lemon blue: 2 black, 1 blue, and 1 brown-red (she may not be a true brown-red, but that's the closest color she matches).

Here are a few of mine, plus a wyandotte.

@rtroxel, mine don't seem to have what I'd consider very hard feathering, so hopefully that's a good sign. Then again, I'm not an expert, and I'm not sure if feather quality is apparent in the pics I posted.

I may email you come spring about eggs. That'll give me time to see if I can work out space for some. I have some extra cockerels that will be getting rehomed soon, and I may end up selling a few pullets, so

. You really do have gorgeous partridges.

I guess they look soft enough, but they aren't fluffy. They don't fluff up enough. Does that kind of make sense? They are still fluffy, just not as fluffy as the best Cochins. Neither do my Partridge.

I am just outside Charlottesville, in Greene County. I would be more than happy to take that pretty boy off your hands if you're looking to send him to a good home. You can PM me if you'd like........I really love the looks of those lemon blues

Thanks for the compliments! I find I have a hard time picking favorites with my Cochins, I love them all

I'm sure your blacks will be just beautiful. I'm really very pleased with mine, especially since I ordered them from McMurray.

I'm definately no expert and have little experience with LF Cochins but I think they are slow to mature so they won't start laying for a while.
I have one beautiful Buff girl that is my flock Mama and incubator. Wish I could figure out some room for some more. I just love their "puzzled" look with those heavy brows.

That makes sense. In your experience, does it ever improve with age? My birds are 13 weeks old, so I'm hoping they still have a lot of filling out to do.
