Hello everyone! I have a cross beak pullet that I believe hurt her wing and now has a hematoma on it. Her wing doesn't appear to be broken or fractured as she uses it to fly up and down from places. She lets it hang down and keeps tripping over it though. I would gather the hematoma is about an inch in diameter. I've been putting ointments on it and trying to keep it wrapped with gauze but her toes get caught in it and she rips it off. I can't say its been getting noticeable better but it hasn't gotten worse her appetite is better than its ever been and her bowel movements are normal for her. Im not sure what else I can do or should do. Any input would be amazing thank you!!!

Hi @Bakerjet000 :frow Welcome to BYC

Can you post a photo of how she stand with the wing drooping?
Trim the feathers from around the wound and take some more photos so we can see it a bit better.

If you have vet care, that is always best.
Does the wound have any odor?
Do you have a rooster?

General care for a wound would be to flush well with an antiseptic (Chlorhexidine, betadine) or you can use saline. Apply triple antibiotic ointment. Do not cover the wound with a dressing unless the bird is picking at it.

Knowing the cause would be helpful. Do you think something may have attacked her?
It could also be a feather cyst or some type of skin lesion, but it's really hard to tell.
