Large mass above tail

One more question, and I'm not trying to be rude with this, but how did you miss it that long? That's a massive wound, especially on a smallish animal like a chicken. It had to have been visible far before now.

She was moulting and didn't want to be held. As a big fluffy Brahma, it wasn't visible. She normally has a big fluffy patch over that area. Amazingly enough, she does not seem uncomfortable and is eating and drinking water fine. But yes, as you can imagine, I feel very bad I didn't discover it until now, so thank you for pointing that out, Fishkeeper... I found a vet open today and took her in. I got oral antibiotics, oral anti-inflammatory, topical cleaner and topical antibacterial ointment. I will cover it with a "second skin" type product from Walgreens. Will have to keep her separate from my other chickens for awhile, too.

Now you have good meds listen to do not cover keep meds in it blue coat from tractor supply later

You’ll trap bacteria and restrict oxygen if you cover it. I agree don’t cover.
ETA: use what the vet gave you. Along with her/his instructions. I’m sure he gave you a treatment plan. Stick with that. I would not do anything differently. If you have questions give him a call. After all you paid to have her treated. Please don’t deviate from the vets plan.

Glad you were able to get her to the vet.
I'm hopeful she will recover quickly with your care.
Please keep us posted on her progress. Thank you for the update.
