Larkwell Valley (2023)

So what's happening in Larkwell Valley this year?
Honestly? Not much. I might hatch out some ducks to sell, but I'm not bringing anything in. I want to start moving in a few years, and it's likely that I won't be able to have ducks where I end up, so I'm starting to wind down.

The chickens aren't allowed to hatch chicks either, so the only chicks that show up will be from nests I don't find in time.

I did move one of my roosters to a new coop. I lost Tatiana, my laughing rooster to whatever was grabbing birds, so I moved Rabbit (Bunny's son) to the red coop so the girls still had a man. Worked well for him anyways because Ranger (the araucana I hatched from the eggs I got from Colt) got him in the eye and in general didn't like him.

Lost Lady today, my old Calico Princess. Neighbor's dog came in and did what dogs do. She was the only loss so far, everyone else is counted for. Tina, my polish bantam rooster was plucked pretty bad, but no bite marks i could find, and is isolated now so he can get back to full awareness.

I'm sad about Lady, and so is Cheese (they were nest buddies at night), but I knew that she would be the first to go to any predator that went into the barn since she was so old and slow.

I'm hoping Princess (Miss Kitty) is safe, I haven't seen her since the dog, but she knows how to climb out of the way and we didn't see any fur anywhere

Sorry for your loss. Hopefully the neighbor steps up to their responsibility.
They offered to replace or pay to replace. We said they didn't need to since I'm getting out of chickens and Lady was no longer laying anyways. He said their other dog got into their own coop last night so they're both going back to the ranch they came from since they never had issues back there

So sorry to hear this. My neighbor would be getting a visit from me and the humane society a call for a dog not on a leash killing my pets. We have a leash law here in Ohio and the person that is not keeping their dogs penned up gets a stiff fine and can be made to pay for any damages to other people's pets that is made. I have had to use that law before and got compensated for my bunny that the neighbor's dog killed by jumping our fence to get to it. I hope you can make your neighbor tie up or confine his animals.

No laws like that here and animal control doesn't come out here. Plus he already said he was sending them back to the ranch they came from
