Larvae in poop

Never seen anything like this. Thought I'd post and see if anyone knows what this is. One of our girls pooped this larvae out. We watched her do it since we were talking about her. We did save it and its bagged.

The coop and fenced area are cleaned of poop every 2 hours or so. I can do this because I'm a stay at home mom and a caregiver to my mom. I'm a bit obsessive about keeping things clean. She actually pooped this out. We watched her do this. After she did it, we scoped it and bagged it. The larvae was hard to the touch. It's been in the baggie all day and that larvae hasnt moved. We treat the ground and surrounding areas for flies as well with the Saturday Lime. Works amazing on repelling flies.

Since you saw her poop the maggot out, your hen has a serious problem. It's called Fly Strike. Closely inspect her vent and area around the vent for any lesions, cuts, injuries, caked feces in fluff and feathers that contain maggots and remove them.

If you actually saw her poop it, then do as @dawg53 suggests in your other thread - inspect her for maggots around the vent, underneath her, etc. you may find the source of the maggots. A bird should not be pooping maggots, so she's got Flystrike.

I did check her. No wounds, no missing feathers. Shes eating and drinking, running around and laying eggs. It doesnt look like a maggot to me. It's got a brown hard head on it and the ridges stand out. When we touched it, it didnt move and it was very dense feeling. Were at the vet now to see what's going on. As soon as I know, I'll post what they find, if they find out anything.

Ok! So good news! Shes in good health and her fecal was tested, nothing! Shes clean, so she must have ate it and just pooped it out!!
