I have 2 acurite humidity monitors I calibrated them (hopefully correctly) I also have a basic thermometer which I calibrated (again hopefully correctly) can you message up calibration or is it pretty accurate.
Anyways the humidity monitors sat at 65 and 67 after calibrations. I have it sitting at 51% and 53% himihumi right now so that would be adjusted to 61% on both of them is that correct? Im just worried my calibration was wrong so my humidity will be off. I've also barely put any water in the Bator and the humidity is quite high for having little water Is that normal? Im trying to get my temps accurate planning to set the eggs tomorrow thanks
I will attach pics if Bator and the humidity meters and thermometer :) pic of thermometer is calibration result I guess in just looking for re assurance that everything is good to go tomorrow what should I try to get my humidity to? And it's still air so temp 101? The eggs are brown blue and green in hoping to have 11 by tomorrow currently have 7
Thanks for listening to my ramble

I have read that the humidity will depend on the surface area of water in the incubator not the total water. For example if you have a 1inch by 1 inch container the humidity would be the same if it is filled with water 0.5 inch deep or 3 inches deep.

Oh that's really interesting! Good to know thanks so mcuh

If you want to be sure you can weigh your eggs when candling and see if they loose the right amount of weight on the according days.

That way you know if they lost to much weight you should put more water in, if they lost too little you should put less in. If i say more or less water, i mean the surface, not the amount. So don’t fill the same bowl with more water but put in a second bowl, or put a smaller one if you need less. The ideal weight loss would be
Day 5: 3%
Day 7: 4%
Day 10: 6%
Day 14: 8%
Day 18: 11%
I put that into an excel file where i put the beginning weight of each egg and it gives me the right weight on the according days. I can also put the weight during candling at the according days and it will tell me what average all of the eggs lost so i can adjust the humidity accordingly.

I have no idea if i can upload excel files here, otherwise i’d be happy to share it.

I have a HovaBator. If you use paper towel and cut into strips and put in the channels then when you add water it will maintain humidity longer and stay more steady.

I had better luck getting the temp fine tuned, adding eggs and then bringing up the humidity after an hour or so. I used about 2 Tablespoons each time I added water to maintain about 40 to 45%. You really don't need much.

If you did the calibration test correctly then you're correct at 61% humidity.
