Wow! That is scary. I would have told them that I didn't have anything for sale and wouldn't have showed them anything. Make sure your coop is locked up. Now that they saw what you have they may be back so be careful. We have motion camaras so if anyone comes on the property we atleast have pictures of them

had i known what they really wanted i would have told them none are for sale, but so many people come to buy laying hens that it didnt dawn on me at all.
when they had no interest at all in my layers and talking roo but didnt want the big rir or turtle (LOL) i thought well, thats strange, but then it became clear and they didnt stay together as a group it was like having 6 -3 yr olds to watch at the same time, crazy.

i dont have any motion lights camera's nothing should make my daughter sleep with her bedroom window open to hear anything going on, but you all know as well as i that birds are so easy and quiet to catch in the dark. they want them there isnt much i can do tonight to stop it.

Does your coop lock? I would lock everything up! How did they find you? Do you have a sign at the end of the driveway or something? No one wouldn know I have chickens by driving by the house because its pretty far back and you have to drive in and around to the back of the house where the barn is. Im glad you got your doe back. I would be pretty nervous. Tell mr wonderful to keep the shot gun ready!

Sorry this had to happen to you. :-(

first , the chickens in the road most days might have given it away!! LOL no not in the road but close. we are in the middle of several busy roads you look down into the yard from one. but the chickens were not even out today. my coop doesnt lock my rabbit pens dont lock, i thought all i needed was to preditor proof everything against the wilds not the weirds.
mr wonderful said he thinks the doe was missing all day but that it should be a lesson to me! i may take that shot gun out on him, no no shot gun, are you kidding some people should never be allowed to have a gun he is one of them!! the whole thing has made me very nervous for sure.

I dont care for them personally but in some cases they are nice to have around! lol Like when that frisky fox was eating up the poor ducks I got this summer! UGH We still didnt catch it!

That is creepy, chickn. I never let strangers into the yard to "see" my poultry. I just say it's for "biosecurity" reasons.

My barn is set back behind the house and we can see people coming up the driveway and could head them off if necessary. I've never locked the coop or pens, and I hope I never have to.

i share a driveway with my grandmother, my aunt pulled in behind them and when she was on the deck i gave her the look, but she didnt get it and went into the house, she said next time she will stay outside with me, but i hope there isnt a next time!

ugh, some people are soo cruel!

i hope you still called the cops to give them a description so they can keep an eye open for anyone that is planning on fighting roosters or later gets caught doing it.

i have yet to set up the cameras i have, but now my birds are up in my garage and a lot closer to the house for my comfort. before people could walk by the coop on the old railroad track bed path. there is a lock on the door but i never locked it since i didn't have the key, i just turned it to make it look like it was. my corgi is enough of an alarm when someone makes enough noise near the house. and my neighbor's dogs would be loud enough to set mine off if someone was walking the pathway.

i did call the police told them what i could, but told them that they didnt need to come since i found the rabbit next door.
