These are my last two uncertains - hens or roos? There are two shots of the red one, a solo and with two other chicks that I already know are roos. Hatched April 13. Thanks for your expertise, much appreciated. I would hate to send a pullet off to freezer camp.

The white-black one looks like a male to me based on sickle feathers. The red one looks like a hen, but maybe try to post pictures from the side (rather than above).

They're very skittish and hard to get photos of - I"m also disabled and can't get down too low. I'll try again tomorrow when they come for treats. Thanks.

The red one's a pullet. The black and white is throwing mixed vibes. I'm leaning hard towards cockerel, but it's hard to tell if those hackles are truly pointed or just colored that way and despite what looks like a sickle feather, I don't see any true saddle feathers, yet. They certainly don't cooperate for a good fashion shoot, do they?

EDIT to Add:
If those faint reddish shadows on the shoulders are actually red feathering, it's a cockerel. Red shoulder splashes are a male-specific coloring.

Well, at least I don't have to feel so incompetent, since no one else can decide!

A hatch date of April 13th would make them over 5 months old. I think they must be females if that is the case.

Edit- No, I change my mind. I think they are both late blooming cockerels. Final answer :)
Should I ask again next week? Hahahahahah. I am hoping to cull this week, but these guys are not helping!

I agree, kind of sort of? Sometimes it is amazingly difficult to be sure. I too think red is a pullet and the white is a too, but I didn’t post yesterday cause I am not real sure.
Well, since we have had almost every possible answer, you're safe in agreeing!
I look at them every day and still have no idea who is what!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who is confused. Maybe better wait for eggs. Kind of odd to me that they’re not crowing or laying yet to help with the decision. Should be very close to doing one or the other. I would think if they were cockerels they would have crowed by now and if not you should be getting eggs in a few minutes haha
