I forgot about the colored Easter chicks that are STILL raved about. My DH saw them at the hatchery the other day. All I want to know.......

is those of you who have bought them last year what are they like now? Any side effects? Color now?

I don't want to get into how it is done, cruelty, etc. etc. I just want to know your experience on your colored chick that you bought last year.

You know... I've never seen them here locally.. Alway here. I enjoy the pics. It would be neat to see some of their grown up pics. I wonder how long it takes for the fuzz with dye to be replaced?

um.... I'm guessing that most of the ones that were dyed last year are beautiful roosters this year.

As they feather out the color is replaced with their natural color. The most popular breed to dye is a white leghorn. Dyeing them isn't harmful to them, you just inject aa minute amount of dye into the egg aat a certain time during incubation, or they can be sprayed with dyed water. There are a LOT of them on Criagslist around here for anywhere between $5 and $10 a piece.

Ours last year were spray on color and they were white leghorn roosters. Very pretty
