many chickens no matter what the age, just refuse to lay in the cold.. i have a small hatchery, and a perfect example is today.. over 50 hens...no eggs in any boxes, but just this last week when i had one 60 degree day, i had 12 eggs...they r just taking the usual winter break... and i use heat lamps, not 4 light, just 4 warmth..when i put in a white light, no heat, they lay better... i guess they know the days are shorter..naturally... thts's why it's called going to bed with the chickens.lol..don't give up..spring is coming soon!!! dana

I have a little Bantam Cochin Frizzle pullet that will be a year old the 31st of this month. She hasn't laid a single egg yet. I'm hoping she'll start laying once the days get longer. I really, really want to hatch some of her eggs!
