Has anyone had experience with a cockerel that had late comb development? I have a 7 week old australorp with barely any comb and no wattles, but huge feet and a rooster-ish dinosaur posture and tail feathers that are beginning to look curved and pointed. Anyone have any ideas on this? (sorry no pics)

If you would have not said what breed I would have guessed australorp or buff orpington, both breeds have late comb development, its totally normal. They can keep you guessing pullet or roo for quite some time! Your suspicion or roo is probably correct.

Not another one! My gut says it's a roo. We've been wondering about him since he was a week old. The only thing that had me guessing possibly pullet was the comb -or lack of one. What you said makes perfect sense. I'll give it some more time, but I'll be looking for a home just in case. Thanks!

I had some cochins that I thought for sure were pullets, 11 weeks old, combs and wattles popped out and they were boys. I was so mad. 11 weeks old, what were they thinking???
