LOL nope, not quite...

i just had a chick hatch at day 35! from a bronze egg. can't say tell difference between blue and bronze chicks so i guess it could either be bronze or a blue split bronze split bs (am I saying that right?). the bs male is the dominant one so it very well could be the split. either way, i was really psyched as I was about to toss the egg...did one last candle and saw the chick had already broken into the air cell! either fit into a breeding plan so guess I'll find out eventually.

i had one other that I thought was bronze egg but when it hatched the chick looks bs so I'm wondering if it might have been the bs split bronze hen. would that produce the bs colored chick but be split to bronze? it will be nice in spring when everyone will be in their own pen again and I'll know who laid what. I wasn't really even expecting those to be fertile. I still have one more to go into lockdown thursday and then three more eggs I just put in on the 22nd. girls decided to lay a few more and the males still had their trains but I'm not sure if they will be fertile, guess I'll find out in another week or so.

oh and btw both the IB hen and the bronze boy are doing great now. just put big boy (bs male) back in the main pen, hopefully after being in 'time out' he'll behave himself.

Both the bronze and SP have all but dropped their trains but the bs is just losing a couple here and there, mostly still there.

so, do you have ideas on who mom(s) are if not hers? are you figuring the bs pied we is the dad? good luck on the last 5!

Is your bronze peacock split bs ?

If not the bs chick would be from your bs peacock. odds 50% it would be split bronze. Another thing watch the neck color on your chicks blues will start getting green feathers in their neck, bronze will not. you will be able to tell by 2 to 3 months.

Oh the bs chick , father would have to be bs or split bs.

The peacock is pure bronze, at least that's what Craig sold us, I trust that's what we have. we have three adult males: bs, bronze and sp--all pures. then the hens are bs, split bronze bs, sp and bronze. I know the egg did NOT come from the bs (she had already laid that day, actually watched it too). I noted that both the bronze and bronze split bs were hanging around the nest area but didn't see that one laid. Visually it looked like the bronze eggs as hers are brown but it could have been the sp or bronze split bs I guess. I haven't seen eggs from either yet--that I know of--so I'm guessing.

not that it will help but here's a pic:

thanks for the tip on the bronze/blue, I'll be keeping my eyes out for color. I have one other that's about 3 weeks now too. It would be nice to get a blue split bronze split bs as we can use that in our breeding program but then again a bronze would be nice too!

again, couple pics.

Deerman, today is Day 28 on my last egg. Thanks for your advice and support this year...I didn't have any eggs until July but I'm 4 for 4 in the hatching dept., two are 4 weeks old and two are 2 weeks old .... waiting on my last one today.

Do you go back to feeding regular feed (like Purina Flockraiser) instead of the Layena now?

yes no need to feed a layer this time of the year.

well hatch 4 more peachicks .white or maybe bs peach. those are her babies she must have taken over the other peahen's nest.
