I never did an intro, so here it is now:
Hello BYC, my name is Katie. I have had chickens for just under a year now. I had never had birds.
I worked in restaurants for the past 15 years and that is enough of that for a while! Managing a restaurant during Covid times was pretty much what did me in, so I stepped away from that and into a life with animals.
I started with a flock of six day old pullets and added a rooster in March. We’re now hatching eggs. I would like to eventually have a dual purpose flock, but for now we are just using the eggs.
We’ve had no emergencies here yet(knock on wood).
I also have:
2 goats (Nigerian Dwarves)
2 fat, old cats
1 sweet mutt
1 bearded, handsome man
Sometime I would like to add alpaca or angora goats (and heck, why not bunnies?!) for fiber! I like to knit/crochet.
