We haven't posted in awhile, and we figured we'd post in this forum now that we feel pretty confident (overall) if we have pullets or cockerials! We've been busy with life and the fall festivities!

Our flock is growing up to be such beautiful birds. Our biggest accomplishment is that hiccup started to lay eggs last week! We even got a "pink" egg! And it seems like the red ones and Mocha will likely soon too based on how fast they're changing!

Pepper and Cotton are besties as always. Pepper is growing up to be a beautiful rooster. Luckily he hasn't crowed or even tried yet, we told him that he can stay as long as he keeps quiet!

Buttercup, who is our social butterfly, we think has experienced some bullying, probably because she's now one of the small breeds as everyone else is getting bigger. She had herself all puffed up in the back of the coop and kept sleeping. We brought her in and fed her some wet cat food and Hydro Hen, then isolated her from the rest, and she perked right up! Back to her normal self!

Everyone is growing up so fast and coming into their own. We've given marbles to our friend as planned and we worked on integrating Dottie and Candy into the flock and they've been doing great! Polish chickens are definitely very entertaining! Candy's tail feathers are coming in nicely as well!

Luna is such a sweetheart and so is Scarlett. Definitely our 2 favorites. Casey, the younger cockeral, is such a hefty baby! He does his own thing with Lily, Poppy, and Estelle keeping them together!

Soon we will be working on finishing up winterizing the coop and keeping Hiccup happy to give us more eggs!

We always appreciate the love and kind words from this community!

Lovely mix of chickens.
We have a mixture too. 5 big hens and 9 bantams - 2 cockerels and 7 hens

Think they're all in the images!

She was sold to me as a speckled Sussex and because I wasn't really worried the breed I didn't look into it to much. Both her and her sister was sold as this but they are quite different in pattern so I do wonder if they're a mix somehow 🤷‍♀️😊

This is a Speckled Sussex. Unless you got yours as hatching eggs, there's no way the seller didn't know they weren't SS. Even from the chick down it would've been obvious.

If your birds are healthy and happy, and you're happy with them, that's all that really matters though.

No she's definitely not the same as that beautiful hen! 😍

My bad though the website only called them Speckled (not speckled sussex), sorry for the confusion everyone, should have kept quiet🤦‍♀️ she is healthy and happy as far as I know 😊 and we're very ok with her and her looks 😄

Ah right, they're probably the same hybrid that's more usually called a Speckledy then. I think those are Cuckoo Marans x RIR.
