Lathargic chick

She seems to be a tad better today. I gave here her morning drink this along with some scrambled eggs. She looked better after all of that but I noticed that she might not have been eating to much but was drinking water on her own. I thought I would give her a very small bit of scratch. 1/4 of a teaspoon and she inhaled it. That was at around 8 AM. Since then she has been preening most of the morning scratching and has not been laying around with her eyes shut and is not all puffed up. She has been way more active than she was yesterday. I have been thinking what I did different and the only thing that I can come up with is I gave them a few dried mealworms the day before and the morning of her episode. She was very aggressive with them and ate most of them. Could it have been something in the mealworms that did not sit well with her. Even if it is not, no more of them. Hopefully we are over this. I will update later tonight. Again Thanks for all of your help. This chicken raising thing is hard on a guy.

Check for mites/lice.

How do you go about that? I am up for anything that might help but not sure what and where to look

Just check the skin all over her body.Move the feathers apart and look at the skin for any mites.

I am not seeing any thing unusual. So I assume that mites and or lice could have caused her to be the way she is?

Yes,When you said she was grooming all day i thought mites/lice.

I guess I should have clarified. No more that normal or what I think is normal grooming. Just every now and again but is way more that she was doing before. The last couple of days she was just sitting and doing absolutely nothing. It is good to see her doing anything.
