Lattice inside of coop?

Do you think it would be safe to use lattice inside of the coop.we are turning our shed into a chicken coop, but we want to devide it into two sections one would be for the chickens and the other side would be for storage of the hay, gloves, feed and etc. We were going to put a door in to divide the two rooms and use the lattice on each side of the door..would the lattice be strong enough to keep the chickens from getting to the other side
