Tail of the chicken still screams roo to me. The only pullets I've seen with sickle feathers are phoenixes.

I have an black EE roo who took 4 months to get a big red comb, hackle, saddle, & sickle feathers. I'll get a picture of him today.

That depends on the bird. I've seen vids of week old cockerels trying out their little squeaky voices, and I've heard about others that didn't try until they were 9 months.

Some roos start crowing early, some wait a bit longer before they start crowing.

Were they OEGBs? They seem to start crowing as early as 2-3 weeks of age.
