Even if they don't have feathered legs they may still carry the genes.

I think I am going to order me some chicks from Smith in the Spring

Some black and Lavs.... maybe splits if he has them. 15 total. This week or next. My chickens have the money and I just bought feed so I should be set for a couple of months

What are the odds that she would get them, and I wouldn't, and neither did anybody else that hatched 5 times as many eggs? If she did get them, I must have sent olive egger eggs by mistake or something. Plus, since this is the first i am hearing of it, I don't even know what year in the project they are from.

Didn't mean to stir things up.Just interested in genetic oddities that show up.Have had some stubs show up in a bantam split.Fluff between the toes.Entered him at Frankfort a couple of years ago.Totally missed seing it.The judge saw it.Have not seen it since.I did not use him to breed.

Ok- figured out from the hatch that it was from the first gen from the 1/2 marans roo. I stopped using him as soon as we got a lav cuckoo roo, so that is why no more have popped up. Nothing in the next generation but the silver and occasional single comb, now we are on to the the next step which should get us some really nice stuff.
The only drawback is I won't be getting any more solid lavs or splits.

I think Harry used EEs and Orpingtons. My lavs certainly have the Orp temperment, and the original ones from Harry have the fluff too. Gosh- I love these birds.
I would have thought there was orpinginton in there, I'm surprised there's not, mine are soooo broody

We just hatched a few Lav chicks and one has a yellow beak. These are some of
our first Lavs and I'm wondering if that is normal and will it go away? This chick was a late hatcher had to be helped out of the shell and had a bad pasty butt yesterday so I'm wondering if it might be stress. Is that possible?

Picked up a Smith split from Paul over the weekend.Should give my lavs a boost. Now survive till spring.

OK just placed my order for chicks in the spring. Waiting for a total and then I just have to get a money order in the mail.

I'm going to have to get some blacks or splits in the spring. do you think it would be better to get straight blacks or would splits be better? Any recommendations on a breeder? I love your birds happy, but should I get a different line if I get straight blacks?
