Lavender Ameraucana Breeders .... UNITE

I think Harry used EEs and Orpingtons. My lavs certainly have the Orp temperment, and the original ones from Harry have the fluff too. Gosh- I love these birds.

No, he said he didn't use Orps, just an EE. The conversation was about the size of his birds and there was a comment that he used Orps and he said he didn't.

Yes I was the one who said they looked orp and Harry said orp was not used.He has nice sized birds.

A question for happy mtn. What have you used?I got a email from Cindy Martin who got a start of lav cuckoo or lav from you.Just curious as she said some feathered shanks showed up.Not being negative just curious.I know this can happen from hidden genes sometimes.

Hmm- I haven't had any feathered shanks so have no clue. I used a clean-legged hatchery cuckoo marans that laid a nearly white egg to start my cuckoos. I am using some of the solid lavs and splits (3rd gen removed) in my regular lav project. I have gotten silvers and the occasional single comb in the cuckoos, but no feathered shanks yet. Honestly this is the first I have heard of it, and I have talked to Cindy....

Probably from the marans since the French are feather legged. She probably did not want to offend. She is very nice to talk to.Very understanding about what is sometimes done in projects.

No- this was an old line of clean-legged hatchery marans. No feathered legs in any of them or their chicks. I sent her a message to double check. Wouldn't be offended by anything that comes up in the projects. I tend to see those anomalies as opportunities.

Even if they don't have feathered legs they may still carry the genes.
