Both of these chicks are about 20 wks old, Jubilee is a wk older than the lavender. Am I wrong in thinking the Lavendar (aka Wingsparrow) is a roo? My kiddos are attached to him/her but if its a roo we can't keep her/him.

I think those are both pullets.

20 weeks is not too soon to be reddening up as a pullet approaching lay.

I'm not seeing any saddle feathers, and would expect more comb growth at this age for a male.

I think both pullets....just maturing slightly differently due to the different lines. I've had fast maturing Buff Orps, and I know some of the specialty lines can take more time to mature.

Both pullets. their combs and wattles are small. They also are lacking the cockerel feathering. Hackles, sickles, saddles, and lustrous wing coverts. Definitely pullets.

I also agree.

I think pullets too. The Lavs comb and wattles are on par with my 8 week old cockerels. At 20 weeks I would be expecting some comb and wattle growth and reddening on a pullet.
