Hey all, update on our Lavender Spartacus project

first phase of this project, which started with a clean face LF Lavender Roo shown with pea comb, carrying the blue egg gene and is being bred to tufted tailed black Araucana (quetro) hens.

Got our first hatched black split lavender Araucana (quetro) chicks Dec 05, only had 4 eggs set all four hatched. got 2 tailed tufted lav/blk splits and 2 clean faced tailed lav/blk splits(culls) from the hatch,
we will be hatching a few more to try to build the numbers a bit, more chicks hatched last night(12-10-08) and more to come woo whoo....

then the 2nd phase we will be introducing the same tailed lavender roo to our black clean faced rumpless araucana (colonca) hens very soon and try to hatch rumpless clean-face in the lav/blk splits.

3rd phase:: breed the black/lavender splits in the (quetro) tufted tailed versions to the black/lavender splits in the (colonca) rumpless clean faced versions(once obtained) together to go for the ultimate lavender araucana(rumpless and double tufted)..hoping to see some results from these breedings summer and fall of 2009
this is all so very fun and exciting for us..we are having a blast with it

Adam, now behave yourself. I think I have enough projects in the works. lol Not to say I haven't considered a mille and porcelain group for araucana, because it did pass my mind a couple times and they sure would be beautiful. Just not sure I want to go there any time soon. I'll let you know if I change my mind.
