You want to know something.... the people I got them from are homesteaders. They live off their land & animals. They EAT them

They breed chickens, ducks, turkey, goat, geese. The man said its like eating red meat

They sell a few here & there to help buy corn & grain that they grind & mix themselves. They were wonderful people. I saved their #.... just in case

Gorgeous!!!

we have 4 muscovies we got for FREE off Craigslist last summer. No idea what colors, one is spotted, the others are brown & white. One has a "P" on his chest! we love them but man they are crazy.

When they were wee babies...lol

they are nice. i initially got mussies to eat, then discovered how much fun they are and decided to find the best ones possible to breed with. i read somewhere in a forum that it costs the same to feed good birds as it does paddock stock so you might as well have good ones. so i keep the best looking ones, sell a lot to pay for feed, and make sure i have some young boys fattening up for the freezer. muscovy meat is a little like beef, i mince the legs and make duck bolognaise of burgers. i'm a chef by trade.

i think growing your own food makes you respect what your eating, you use every last bit. lets face it, someone somewhere kills the meat you buy from a supermarket, so your killing an animal everytime you buy it. i think of it the same as when i go fishing, people kill fish all the time without thinking about it, its just a culture thing.

growing your own corn and grain for bird food is pretty hard core! wow!

I understand what your saying ian, my problem is I name them then have a problem killing and eating them. We do process our extra roos though. I just don't let my ducks hatch out ducklings. I wish I could.
